Do You Know What Today Is...???
IT’S MY ANNIVERSARY!
A year ago, I stepped out on faith and started taking myself seriously as a makeup artist. While I’d been doing makeup over for 10 years, I still didn’t call myself a makeup artist. I just “liked doing makeup.” I created my Instagram page after I swore that I wouldn’t create another page because I already had my personal page, Unbossed and Unbought, and two others. I’ve spent a year growing as an artist and an entrepreneur. While I have another business, makeup is just a little different, imo. And, I’ve had to learn very quickly! But, I’m glad for the lessons and that I’ve survived the growing pains. While I am not official mentees of them, both Alexandra Bond-Butler and Mimi Johnson (The Glamatory) have been SO crucial in helping me make it as a budding artist. I’ll be forever appreciative! As a result, I ended up creating my website. The one I said I would NEVER create, lol! Thank you KiaSpeaks for building a user-friendly site. I flat out asked Mimi if a website was necessary as an artisti and she asked, “If you were to lose your Instagram page today, do you have other way for people to see your work?” That sold me and here we are!
Since launching Beat By Bondy, LLC, I’ve been afforded soooooo many opportunities. In just a year, I’ve been a featured makeup artist in New Orleans during EssenceFest, the Ultimate Women’s Expo in Atlanta, a Shea Moisture campaign featuring my Alma Mater: Spelman, weddings in Atlanta and Boston, and countless birthday parties, graduations, baby showers, photoshoots, and nights out on the town! As I reviewed my IG feed, I smiled and whispered “thank you” with deep gratitude. Thank you to each client…each person, near and far, who has referred me…and all 500+ IG followers! Y’all really are the greatest and I’m so grateful to virtual community :)
Also! I use lippies from The Glamatory with a lot of my clients. In honor of Black Friday, be sure to check out their new lippies and their $5 glosses, while supplies last. Be sure to use the code GLAMWHITNEY to receive 15% off your order.
Thank you all for riding for and with me during this first year. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings!
xoxo,
Whitney B.
